Music is an art – it is the way of expressing your emotions

By Toshi Gupta
Music is a gift which you can give to your child through sending him/her
into a professional music class which will be an experience of a lifetime for
them. Music is like any sport which requires coordination. Through music a
child learns to sing and keep rhythm which develops coordination. Studies say
if children learn music from an early age it can help them excel in ways beyond
the basic ABCs.

The effects of sound
Music as we all know involves the creation of emotionally pleasing
effects by means of sound. Music is regarded as a medium for expressing thought
and feelings through sound, tone and time. The basic elements of music that
combined to achieve this effect are: Melody, rhythm and harmony. This kind of a
perception is better felt and understood if children are brought up in an
environment where they get to know music since childhood. They have to be
exposed to the rules and grammar of music.
A child needs to observe before he/she gets into any kind of training.
To inculcate a sense of music into the minds of rowdy school boys (a difficult
endeavour!) can be done successfully by appealing through audible vibrations
which appeal to the ear and the intellect. Music sound or tone is the result of
regular vibrations as contrasted with noise. Each child is attracted to a
different vibration or note and therefore should be exposed to a variety of sounds before choosing those of his/her
liking and interest.

The above picture depicts that how involved children get when they are
in a group. They concentrate only on the music. In addition to enhancing
creativity, there are therapeutic effects to listening to certain music, inducing sleep, rest and peace of mind.

Classroom learning

Music classes are an effective way of
getting a child to understand nature and harmony, creating discipline in the learner and removing inhibition of expression. Whether your child learns how to ‘rock out’ on
electric guitars or learn more dulcet piano skills, the music classes for kids
run the gamut from contemporary to classical. Once they learn the basics,
students can move on to ensembles and bands to bring their fierce talents to
the stage. There are many opportunities for children these days in terms of
participating in different music and talent shows.

The role music plays in expanding children’s horizons is essential. Introducing
music as an art in the form of games is a great way to start them out with a
love for music. Whether the children are singing, playing, or listening,
playing instruments, adding movement to the lessons teaches children about
sequential learning which is essential in reading comprehension.
When children listen to familiar words in songs, they tend to bring
connection to the sound. Singing songs and reciting poems and rhymes with
children helps them develop early literacy skills.
A music teacher can give a better sense of understanding about the
music. While children come into the world ready to decode sounds and words,
music education helps enhance those natural abilities. Additionally, music
helps in enhancing concentration power.
There are many professionals who intake kids in their music classes. As
such, the best way to learn music is to join a class where you will learn not
only different instruments and rhythms, but also develop and improve your
creative abilities.
